Our little piece of paradise
The Bell on the Common is situated in the heart of the village of Broughton Gifford, in Wiltshire, which is about 5 minutes from Melksham and only about 20 minutes from Bath City Centre. We have this beautiful old stone pub which is right next to a huge open common, where you can walk your dogs or play with your kids, watch the cricket – or come and see one of the best firework displays in the country, come Fireworks’ Night! For us, it’s a lovely old fashioned “proper pub” with plenty of parking outside the front, or up the side. During this Summer (2017), we have gone through a 5 month refurbishment, where we have tried to bring a few little modern twists, whilst being sympathetic to the age of the building. If you haven’t been before, or haven’t been for a while, why not come along and see the changes for yourselves…we hope you will be as pleased with them as we are! We have retained the 2 seperate sides, at one end is the public bar, where wellies, wet and muddy doggies (and owners) are welcome. A huge open fire will welcome you on the colder days, thanks to me being our resident firestarter! At the other end of the pub is the Copper Bar and Restaurant, where you can enjoy your meals without your muddy friends 😉 Our menu is available throughout the pub
This one is ours, but you can happily bring your dogs here and know that they are welcome! They can either be in the Public Bar or our large Beer Garden. Most of our regular four legged visitors know where we keep the biscuits inside!
Our Beer Garden
Perfect for those balmy summer nights! Imagine sitting here, sipping your prosecco, wine or beer and listening to the birds singing, with just the occasional tractor going by, or perhaps the ariel acrobatics of our nesting House Martins will catch your eye! If you’re lucky enough, you might get to see the Hot Air Balloons going overhead. Fancy a game of swingball? Just ask us to pop it up for you
Need to get on with business, or snapchat your friends? No problem, we have free WiFi for our customers
For those evenings when you're not sure what to do...
Come join us, and have some fun with our bar games. You’ll probably find that we will join in too!
Looking to plan a Birthday, Christening, Celebration or something else? Following our refurb we can now happily accommodate larger parties. Just contact us via our “Book A Table” page to enquire.
We also usually have an event of some sort going on, from 2 day day music, cider and real ale festivals, Carols in the bar at Christmas to our Formal Burns Supper! Want to know when they are? Just click across onto our Facebook page to find out – or drop us a note via our “Book A Table” page
